What $158 Pays For: A Pajama Price Breakdown

What $158 Pays For: A Pajama Price Breakdown
The short answer: $158 — down from $168 while the current promotion runs — pays for a half-velvet pajama set made start to finish in GIGIWARM’s own factory, from a yarn that went through dozens of sample rounds to a finished piece that was inspected by hand before it shipped. There is no outside contractor in that chain, and no mystery step you are paying for without knowing what it is.
That is the whole price logic, and the rest of this article is the receipt. If you have ever wondered why one plush set costs more than another that looks similar in a photo, the difference is almost never the photo. It is the yarn, the number of steps done in-house, and the checks that happen before the set reaches you.
1. The yarn: dozens of rounds before it earned its name
Every GIGIWARM set is made from 100% polyester Cloud Knit half-velvet, a high-density modified yarn. The yarn itself is the first thing the price pays for, because it was not bought off the shelf and accepted as-is. Developing it took dozens of sample rounds, each one testing the same three problems that ruin most plush loungewear: pilling, shedding, and static in winter.
The result is a yarn built to resist pilling, shed less, and carry anti-static yarn woven into the fabric itself — not sprayed on the surface where a few washes can remove it. That distinction matters more than any single wash: a surface treatment fades, while a yarn-level property is part of the fabric from the start.
The honest boundary here is worth stating plainly: this is polyester, and we do not claim it breathes like cotton. What half-velvet offers instead is a lighter feel than coral fleece — less stuffy, with a short, dense, matte pile rather than a long, fluffy one.
2. Eight steps, all in-house, no outsourcing
GIGIWARM’s factory in Puyuan has been developing and making clothing since 2014, producing around 5 million sets a year. Every set passes through eight in-house processes: knitting, dyeing and setting, cutting, sewing, finishing, full inspection, batch testing, and packaging. None of these steps is sent out to another workshop.
That matters for price in a practical way. When one factory controls knitting through packaging, a problem found at inspection can be traced back to the step that caused it, instead of being passed between contractors. It also means the factory’s standards — not a middleman’s margin — decide what counts as finished.
At a glance, here is what the current promotion covers:
| Set | Price | Fabric | Why it is in this list |
| Half-Fleece Fair Isle Cardigan Pajama Set | $158 (was $168) | 100% polyester half-velvet | Three-piece cardigan set; Fair Isle pattern, the most construction in one set |
| Strawberry Crew Neck Half-Fleece Pajama Set | $158 (was $168) | 100% polyester half-velvet | Classic crew-neck set with embroidered strawberry detail |
| Teddy Bear Print Crew Neck Half-Fleece Pajama Set | $158 (was $168) | 100% polyester half-velvet | Playful printed set in the same yarn and construction |
Sizes and current availability are listed on each product page in the shop — we would rather point you there than print a size list here that could go out of date.

3. Two checks you never see: hand inspection and batch testing
Before any set leaves the factory, every single piece is inspected by hand — appearance, loose threads, size, and flaws. Not a sample of the batch. Every piece. That is slow, and it is part of what the price pays for: the set you receive has already been looked at by someone whose job was to find a reason not to ship it.
Then comes the second check, at batch level. Each batch goes through third-party testing for pilling, colorfastness, formaldehyde, pH, and banned azo dyes, under the Class A textile safety standard — the highest category for textiles that touch skin directly. You can read more about what Class A means in our guide to fabric, and about the factory behind it on our About page.
One limit to be clear about: batch testing certifies the batch, and hand inspection catches piece-level flaws, but no test can promise that a garment will never pill if it is washed hot, dried harshly, or rubbed against rough surfaces for months. Care still matters, and our care guidance stays conservative for that reason.

4. What the price does not pay for
It does not pay for a brand markup layered on top of a contracted-out factory, because the factory is GIGIWARM’s own. It does not pay for claims we cannot back: we do not publish review scores we do not have, sales figures we have not verified, or certifications beyond the Class A standard and batch tests described above. And it does not quietly add shipping or duties at checkout — shipping is free with no minimum, and duties are included.
So when you compare $158 with a cheaper plush set, the fair comparison is not photo against photo. Ask three questions: is the anti-pill, anti-static performance in the yarn or on the surface? How many steps were done in-house? And was your exact piece inspected, or only a sample of its batch? At GIGIWARM, the answers are: in the yarn, all eight steps, and every piece.

FAQ
Why is the price $158 instead of $168?
$168 is the regular price, and $158 is the current promotion applied across the shop. The set, yarn, and checks are the same either way; only the promotional price differs.
Is half-velvet the same as coral fleece?
No. Half-velvet has a short, dense, matte pile, while coral fleece is longer and fluffier. Half-velvet feels lighter and less stuffy, which is why we describe it that way rather than calling it breathable.
Does the price include shipping and duties?
Yes. Orders ship free with no minimum spend, duties are included, and orders leave within 3 days of purchase, with about 15 working days in transit after dispatch.
What if I am buying a Christmas gift?
Order by November 30 to have delivery in time for Christmas, based on the longest delivery timeline we publish. Our gift guide can help if you are choosing between sets.
